- From: Ak-Suu (Teploklyuchenka), about 10 km east of Karakol.
- To: the meadow and springs at about 2,500 m.
- Length: about 16.7 km of unpaved track.
- Climb: about 680 m, steep in places.
- Time: about two hours by UAZ from the village; about two and a half hours from central Karakol.
- Vehicles: UAZ-469 and UAZ-452, high-clearance 4x4s with low gearing.

What closes it
River crossings
The track crosses water on the way up. Most days a UAZ goes through without trouble. After heavy rain or a hot spell that melts snow fast, the water rises and turns brown, and the current carries stones. Drivers have a level above which they don't cross. High water usually drops within a day or two once the weather settles.
Snowmelt
In late spring and early summer, warm days melt snow higher up. Rivers rise in the afternoon and fall overnight. That is one reason the return leaves the valley at 16:00 and not later.
Rain
Heavy rain turns the steep sections slippery and the flat ones to mud, and raises the rivers. A light shower changes nothing. A day of downpour can.
Deep snow
From December to March the jeep usually runs on packed snow. After a big snowfall the track can close for a few days until it settles or is driven in. See winter.
Spring thaw
Late March and April are often the hardest weeks: the ground thaws, mud is deep, and snow lingers in shady sections.

How we decide
- Drivers decide. The licensed carriers who drive this road every day make the call. We don't override them.
- Evening before. If the forecast or the latest run says no, we tell everyone booked the evening before, by WhatsApp.
- Morning check. On borderline days the driver checks in the morning. If the road turns bad on the way up, the car turns back.
- Your options. Another date, or a 100% refund. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure applies as usual.
A departure also needs at least 2 paid seats. If there aren't enough, you get the same choice: another date or a full refund.
If you are already up there
If the road closes while you are in the valley overnight, you wait until it opens. Guesthouses are used to it. Carry enough cash and any medication for an extra day, and tell someone in Karakol your plan before you go up. There is no signal in the valley.

What happens if the road is closed on my date?
You choose another date or get a 100% refund. We never send a car up a road the drivers don't trust.
What usually closes the road?
High water at the river crossings after heavy rain or fast snowmelt, deep fresh snow in winter, and mud during the spring thaw.
Can I drive there myself?
Only in a real high-clearance 4x4 with someone who knows the road. Ordinary cars and most crossovers turn back. Many rental contracts don't allow this kind of track.
